A Place to Start

Rooster Stamp

This was my first carved stamp. I found the rooster in a Dover Publications book (copyright free). It was a good place to start because the images were simple, graphic and stencil-style. I was pleased with how he came out. The amazing thing is that it seems almost everything is elevated by transforming into a stamp. Something about the strong graphic nature looks more official than a sketch; less accidental.

Even though this is copyright free material, my ultimate goal is to use originally sourced content – photos, sketches.
