Etching Penguins

I have recently discovered how easy and magical it is to etch glass. 1. Find or create a silhouette you want to use. 2. Print it out to scale. 3. Lay it on exposed contact paper, then adhere the contact paper to the surface of whatever you want to etch. 4. Smear etching cream over all and let sit for 10 minutes. 5. Wash off and reveal the results!

I made this vase for a friend. I wanted something wintery, but not overtly Christmassy so she could use it throughout the year. I tend toward animals rather than inanimate objects. They are more fun to see come to life. (Although I did an ornament on a booze bottle as my first etching experiment and thought it was very jolly.)
